Thoughts On Pursuing God
God wants to be sought after. He doesn't make it too hard, but He doesn't make it too easy either. There is, however, an if-then statement. Romans 12:1-2 tells us the prerequisite for being able to "test and approve" what His will is. If you don't meet the prerequisites, then you don't even get to "test and approve" what God wants!
The prerequisites are: offering yourself as a living sacrifice out of a heart-attitude of worship and thankfulness AND not conforming to the pattern of how everyone else lives and thinks. Take some time to ponder what that means and read it in the Bible.
Another consideration: If we set up things in our lives that are more dear to us than God Himself, then He won't even let us inquire of him (Ezekiel 14)! Is God really more dear to us than anything else?
One last thought: we need to be ready to obey. Indeed, Jesus taught that people would understand the origins of His teaching if they set themselves to obey God (John 7:17). If we're going to care enough to pursue God, we ought to position ourselves with attitudes of obedience no matter what he shows us.

We Should Be Seekers!
God is referred to as the "revealer of mysteries" Daniel 2:28). In order for Him to be a Revealer, there must first be something hidden. And if there is something hidden, shouldn't we have an attitude of seeking something special like a child searching for a birthday present hidden in the home?
Matthew 13:44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his JOY went and sold ALL he had and bought that field."
Selling all he had was not a burden or a "religious duty". It was the man's JOY! He DESIRED the treasure more than anything else. If we really believe, shouldn't we feel the same -- in Truth, and not just theory?

Hmmmmm....
I guess I haven't written for a while.
Maybe I'll have to change that. We'll see.
Here are some song lyrics from the 80's that I'm considering this morning (Petra, "Blinded Eyes"):
Blinded eyes can't see the light
When it's glowing in the night right in front of you
Blinded eyes can't see the truth
When it's written on the wall in plain view
Blinded eyes can't see the Son
Or the work that He has done out of love for you
A friend sent me a text reminding me how the Bible (2 Thess 2) talks about people perishing because they refused to receive a love of the truth. God is a Giver and a Revealer. Unfortunately, some refuse his gifts and revelations. :-(
